The Principal Financial Group Selects InfoPrint 5000 for High Quality Output of Customized Statements and Enrollment Books

InfoPrint extends color leadership with latest customer installation

PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 30, 2009
InfoPrint Solutions Company, a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, today announced that The Principal Financial Group has installed two InfoPrint 5000s, a full-color, continuous forms inkjet drop-on-demand printing system, to increase productivity and reduce costs with printing personalized financial statements and enrollment books.

The Principal Financial Group, a leader in offering businesses, individuals and institutional clients a wide range of financial products and services, chose the InfoPrint 5000 based on three very important aspects – superior image quality, a lower total cost of print, and InfoPrint’s experience to successfully implement and support the solution.

"The InfoPrint products and services have delivered as promised. The business class color quality is exactly what we need for many of our applications," said Tom Reed, Director of Document Services, The Principal Financial Group.

The InfoPrint 5000 prints at speeds up to 419.8 feet/minute (128 meters/minute)1 or 1,832 full-color letter-size impressions / minute in 2-up tandem duplex mode (1,724 A4 impressions / minute)1 using a 20.4" (520 mm) web with maximum print width of 19.96" (507 mm).

Its innovative piezo-electric drop-on-demand inkjet technology and its water-based ink – either resin-encapsulated pigment or dye – are designed to resist fading and smearing, and maximize the appearance quality of the output. Advanced Function Presentation (AFP)-enabled systems provide accurate, consistent, and device-independent color-rendering, in addition to the error recovery, auditability, and security/control benefits of AFP.

"The Principal Financial Group continues to lead the industry with personalized and relevant communications for their clients," said Chris Cosgrove Vice President & General Manager, West Region, InfoPrint Solutions Company. "With the installation of the IP5000, The Principal Financial Group is able to significantly reduce the time it takes to produce high quality, full color customized financial statements and enrollment books, and at a much lower price point than previously possible."

The InfoPrint 5000 has already been selected by customers in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Japan and India, in conjunction with InfoPrint’s support and solutions services. For more information on the InfoPrint 5000 please visit:
