InfoPrint Transform Manager

Scalable transform solution accelerates AFP workflow

InfoPrint Transform Manager for AIX®, Linux and Windows® is designed to improve print production productivity and help lower total cost of print. A datastream and image transform solution, InfoPrint Transform Manager can accelerate Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) workflow and improve device utilization.

Complex variable data, images and print files may need to be converted to take advantage of secure and reliable AFP printing. Traditional processing methods can create transform bottlenecks and slow down printing. InfoPrint Transform Manager automatically and transparently offloads Adobe® PDF (both PDF to AFP and AFP to PDF), PostScript®, PCL, SAP (OTF and ABAP) and image transforms (TIFF, GIF and JPEG) to a dedicated system for processing and then returns jobs for printing.

Highlights

  • Converts large, complex Adobe® PDF and PostScript® files into AFP with outstanding price/performance
  • Converts AFP files into PDF for electronic delivery, Web presentment or printing on PDF printers
  • Provides consistent, efficient transform output across print servers running InfoPrint Manager, InfoPrint ProcessDirector and IBM® Infoprint Server for z/OS® to boost efficiency and help lower operating costs
  • Start small and scale as your needs change by adding additional processors or blades
  • Standardizes print operations on the reliable, scalable AFP architecture and supported Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) printers
  • Brings non-compliant PDF files into compliance with the current PDF specification to aid transform speed
  • Runs automatically with InfoPrint Manager for Windows or AIX or standalone with the use of a command line

InfoPrint Transform Manager How It Works

InfoPrint Manager can be configured to automatically send print jobs that need to be converted to InfoPrint Transform Manager for AIX, Linux, or Windows. InfoPrint Transform Manager has a Coordinator, a Transform Server, and a user interface. The Coordinator receives each print request and information about the type of transformation that is requested. The Transform Server converts the data using the appropriate transform. The user interface, which you access from a Web browser, lets you define with which print servers and transform servers Transform Manager will communicate. It also lets you start and stop transform servers, check the operating status of the transform servers, and other functions. After data has completed transforming, it is returned automatically to the print server for printing, or for electronic presentment or delivery (usually PDF).

Datastream transforms have become an integral part of most output production operations. InfoPrint Transform Manager offloads this resource-intensive function and eliminates potential workflow bottlenecks that can occur if transform operations interfere with driving high-speed production printers at their rated speeds.
