MAPPING Suite XPS How It Works

Packages

MAPPING XPS functionality is delivered in four packages, each with a choice of four options, in order to provide the right combination of capabilities for your environment. These capabilities are grouped into process categories to match your typical business communication workflows. The categories are:

Input: The type of input data being processed by MAPPING XPS. Typical data inputs include text, XML, and CSV data files, as well as formatted files such as Adobe® PDF, PCL, XPS, PostScript® and Advanced Function Presentation (AFP).

Actions: The general actions to be performed on the input data. Normally, the actions include conversion of the input data or pages to a different format, but they also can include capabilities to sort, join, split or insert pages.

Enhancement: Supported operations that run the gamut from adding a barcode to completing design of complex documents. Enhancements can include data remapping, overlay design, addition of color, RFID encoding and the addition of marketing messages.

Output: The MAPPING XPS packages differ in their support of outputs. Options can include PCL, XML, CSV, XPS, thermal print, Advanced Function Presentation (AFP), PostScript and image formats.

Channel: Supported communication channels vary by package and include print, view, archive, Web, e-mail, fax and SMS (text messages).

The MAPPING XPS packages are Standard, Industrial, Premium and Advantage. They provide differing communication workflow options, as follows:

Optional Modules

In addition to the four MAPPING XPS packages, you can choose from four options packages that extend functions, as follows:

Communication and E-document Option
This option provides for distribution beyond print. It adds indexing and splitting functions to the supported actions, and HTML and PDF to the list of supported output, to enable additional means of communications: Archive, Web, e-mail, fax and text messages.

Database Option
This option provides the ability to connect to and interact with databases such as Oracle®, IBM® DB2®, MySQL and SQL Server.

Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) Option
This option provides for production of IPDS directly. The Advantage package can enable production of Advanced Function Presentation (AFP), which then can be printed using drivers such as InfoPrint Manager, InfoPrint ProcessDirector and Print Services Facility.

Existing Forms Option
This option allows you to import existing forms (overlays) from applications such as Crystal Reports®, Optio and InfoPrint Designer.
